I was approached by Warner Music Group to create a fun space themed 3D animation to be used as an NFT for users entering a competition held by Warner. This competition was celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop and gave away vinyls of Hip Hop classics as prizes. It required users to sign up on discord and to create groups based on which 3D animation NFT they received. Once a group was formed, the members would be entered to win the vinyls.
Create a looped 3D video in three colourways.
I created a playful 3D vinyl around a sphere, resembling a planet such as Saturn, which spun circularly as a vinyl on a record player would in real life.
I incorporated a few clustered stars and other shapes in the background to convey the feeling of floating in space, though I didn't want the animation to be too busy, so the movements within the loop are kept relatively subtle and straightforward.
